Five Purposes at RBC

At RBC, there are five areas that drive what we do and we refer to these areas as the 5 M's. The 5 M's are "Membership, Maturity, Ministry, Missions, and Magnification". God wants us to balance our participation in all these areas and take our relationship with Him to the next level. There are also five corresponding purposes of our church, and they are "Connecting, Growing, Serving, Sharing, and Worshiping", respectively. When we learn how to effectively balance our involvement in these five purposes, we are then able to truly live out God's plan for our lives.
RBC focuses on partnering with you to facilitate your involvement and growth in all five of these critical purpose driven areas. For detailed descriptions of the five corresponding purposes and related ministries, click on the bars below:

RBC’s “sharing” impact starts with our friends and family, but also extends outside our local walls. We have a committed history of demonstrating the love of Christ and missions supports through strategic giving, hands-on mission teams, and mission ministry partnerships. We send and support missionaries, at home, abroad, and on extended and short term missions. Our local teams have performed street dramas, fed the homeless, built buildings, trained church planters, hosted Bible schools, and we’re are just getting started.
In the coming years, RBC will continue to focus on resourcing churches around the world. We believe that support of the world church is within realistic reach of taking the gospel to every people group. It is our desire to be on the front edge of finishing the “Great Commission”.

Magnification plays a key role at Resurrection Baptist Church. More than music, Magnification is the act of inviting the Holy Spirit into our midst and presenting God to the congregation in an enlarged way, so that people may focus on Him.
Magnification ministries at RBC give members of all ages an opportunity to participate in meaningful worship. We encourage all members to use their talents, gifts, and abilities to enhance the worship experience and to praise God in a variety of formats.
- Fine Arts/Drama
- Multi-media/Sound
- Music
Ernest Porter is our Magnification Champion, if you would like more information regarding the Magnification ministry, please contact him at ernestporter@myRBConline.com.
As part of our 5 M’s, RBC will take you through a series of Christian Life and Service Seminars (C.L.A.S.S.) that will help you understand why God desires you to experience a closer relationship with Him and also to prepare you for achieving that next level in your personal relationship with Him.
Currently, three unique and engaging seminars (Membership 101, Maturity 201, and Ministry 301) are held on the first Sunday of each month, starting at 2:45 p.m. Each seminar is 3 hours long and designed to systematically step you through a process of understanding your participation in Christian life and service. Midway through each seminar, a short break and meal is provided. During these seminars, child care is also available.
Note: The Mission 401 seminar is not available at this time.
For a brief format description of each “M” seminar , click on the Tabs below.
- Membership 101
- Maturity 201
- Ministry 301
- MIssionS 401
- Magnification
Membership 101 is an introduction class. In this first session you will meet Pastor Brown, hear him express his passion for Pastoring, and hear God's vision for RBC. You will also have the opportunity to share with Pastor Brown your desires and expectations at RBC. Since we have members from many different ethnic and social backgrounds, as well as denominations, we have designed this seminar to clearly explain:
- Who we Are
- What we Believe
- Why we Exist
- How we Operate
- Where we are Going
The purpose of Membership 101 is to inform and help you, as a new member, with "connecting", as rapidly as possible with your new RBC family. Our goal is to help you to facilitate your growth in Christ, to the next level.
After completion of Membership 101, you will be able to participate in any ministry at RBC. Leadership of a ministry will require completion of courses 101, 201, and 301.
Maturity 201 focuses on three basic habits of Christian growth and offers helpful and practical insights on:
- Spending Time Daily with God
- Learning to Give
- Meeting Together Regularly with Christian Friends
The purpose of Maturity 201 is to provide you with the basic steps you will need to start "growing" your understanding and faith in Christ and fulfilling your journey to “becoming more like Christ”.
At RBC we believe that “Every member is a Minister”. Being a Minister of Christ means "serving" others. The purpose of Ministry 301 is to assist you with understanding what you are called to do for Christ and then to help equip you to accomplish that calling. Through the S.H.A.P.E process, you’ll learn how God has uniquely designed you and desires to use your

to minister to others. You will also get a personal ministry assessment and interview to help direct you to the ministry activity you are called for.
The purpose of Missions 401 is all about "sharing". Sharing your story of how God has worked in your life can be one of the most powerful and effective tools you have for introducing or connecting people to God. In the Missions 401 seminar, we will help you discover your lifetime mission. Specifically, what God has called you to do to further His Kingdom. You will learn how to share your personal story and witness how your life experiences can touch lives for Jesus. You will also discover that God has a global plan for reaching people and that He desires for you to be involved in that plan.
Hallelujah! is the highest praise that we can give our Creator. Here at RBC, we are excited about praising Him and embracing every opportunity to magnify Him. We have many ministries that are focused on "worshiping" God. Please take a moment to review them. If your calling is to magnify Him, we're sure there is a praise ministry here suited exactly for you. If music or fine arts is not your specific giftedness, then join in with the rest of us in raising our voices and holy hands in praise for His goodness, His grace, and His mercy.
